2 Days Left Until Protest The Hero!
Here at Northern Groove we're gearing up for one of the biggest shows to hit Fort St. John this year!
There are only 2 days left until Fallen Idols, This Conviction, and Protest The Hero storm Egan's. Protest The Hero has recently been touring with the likes of In Flames, Killswitch Engage, and Between the Buried and Me, so to have them playing our little pub is nothing short of a metal miracle.
Ticket sales have kicked up this week and if you do want to attend this show make sure to get your tickets in advance so you don't end up being the only lame-o in town who has to sit at home alone on Saturday night watching Protest The Hero videos on YouTube.
The show is on Saturday Sept 19 an the doors for the show will open at 7:00pm. This is a 19+ event only, and no minors will be admitted. Be sure to bring your ID or you will not be allowed in.
Tickets are available in advance for $17 from this link ONLY:

Northern Groove to Find Opening Acts for North Peace Cultural Centre
Northern Groove is pleased to announce a new venture that supports local music!
Northern Groove is teaming up with the North Peace Cultural Centre in an effort to give more local musicians the opportunity to play the Cultural Centre's stage. This essentially means that Northern Groove will be used as a network to find opening acts for concerts at the NPCC. When a show comes up that requires an opening act, Northern Groove will put out an open call for musicians.
So stay tuned all you musicians as we help get more local acts on this fantastic stage!
Northern Groove + Theatre + Visual Arts
Northern Groove has always been about connecting the local music community with a place to find out information about local bands, upcoming events, and places to play. This will be our mission until the very end!
However, starting today, we're also introducing local theatre and visual arts into the Northern Groove community.
It's not too big of a shift really... Anyone who is involved in the Peace Region Events World recognizes that it's very often the same crowd who goes out to a local music event, whom also goes to a local theatre performance. Us in the world of creative art (music, theatre, visual art, dance), we're all pretty similar in many ways, and consequently very connected.
While it is our first priority to continue to maintain (and even ramp up) news and info about the many music events happening in the Peace Region, we will slowly start to incorporate live theatre, visual arts, and dance into the site over the next little while. It probably won't happen over night, but it is a goal for Northern Groove to be the connecting link for all local news related to local live music, local theatre, and local arts.
As always, if anyone has any news that they would like to contribute, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Thanks!

September Northern Groove Magazine Delayed
Due to a few upcoming changes with the magazine (very exciting!), the September edition of Northern Groove Magazine is going to be delayed and combined into the next edition...
This means that the "September / October" edition will be coming for the beginning of October.
So the bad news is that there will be no magazine for September... but the good news is that there are some things (and people) in the works to work towards Northern Groove being more consistant and more better for the future.
As always if you're looking to contribute or get involved, help is always appreciated! I'm always looking for articles, or info on upcoming shows, or info about new bands (even if you've never played a show!). Northern Groove is about about getting the word out about local music and events... if you want to get involved please let me know!
For questions, call me (Russell) at 250-261-8002 (leave a message), or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The premise of the map is that there will be a dozen locations where musicians and artists can setup and perform, without the need for a permit or permission from the City of Fort St. John. We at Northern Groove, believe that local music and arts in Fort St. John and the Peace Region are extremely important to our community! Additionally, we feel that we're not alone in this thought -- There are more people coming to the shows than ever before & because of that there have been more shows, musicians, and venues popping up all over the place... We want to find out WHY!
We would like to hear your comments on why local music and arts are important! More so, we want to hear from as many people as possible! An overflow of comments... petition of sorts if you will.
