An Irish Christmas With Danu

Danu is a traditional Irish band founded in 1995.Here's what the band's Myspace had to say about them:"Over the past decade Danú has had some changes in line-up to form today's current band. Now established as one of Irelands most important ensembles Danú have gathered many awards and critical acclaim. The group have a strong ethos of loyalty to the tradition from which their music comes and yet still bring a fresh, inspiring approach to their performances. Belden's Wall with LCAP Show [Follow-up]
It's not too often that you have the same concert happening twice in one city. This past weekend, on September 14th and 15th, there was that opportunity to catch two bands, Calgary's Belden's Wall and locals Last Chance Anna Pascal, for two nights in a row. Starting off at 8pm on Friday, Last Chance Anna Pascal took the stage in the North Peace Cultural
Centre. While the seats weren't filled to the max, the anticipating fans made it sound as though it was. With seven songs, Last Chance Anna Pascal got the crowd going. Belden's Wall started off quickly afterwards and played for almost a full two hours. Not many bands have that much material that they can pull off as solid as Belden's Wall did. Both nights there were barely any mistakes to be found in the sets. All of the people in the seats were so glad to be there, and even though many of them didn't know who Belden's Wall was when they sat in their seats, they left as newly-converted fans. Belden's Wall had lots to offer their fans to remember by as well, such as hoodies and many different coloured t-shirts. For the show they even brought their own lighting crew to go that extra mile for their hometown. With a constant rock vibe throughout both nights, the only thing that could've made it better is if more people had been able to experience it.
There were many other shows that happened this weekend..look for more follow-ups soon!

Dayna Manning @ Cultural Centre October 13th
DAYNA MANNING-- Signed at the tender age of 16, EMI decided to pick up Dayna Manning’s first record, Volume 1. Released to national critical acclaim, the album scored Manning slots on Lilith Fair, a deal with Nettwerk in the States and Juno nod for Best New Artist. The Album included appearances by Melanie Doane and Sean Ono Lennon and her videos Half The Man and My Addiction were in heavy rotation on Much Music. The success of Volume 1 also kept Dayna touring with the likes of Radiohead, Burton Cummings, Lisa Loeb, Spirit of the West, 54:40 and countless others for almost two years. In 2002 Dayna released her second album with EMI entitled Shades. Recorded in Los Angles with dream producer Jim Scott, the record featured guest appearances from Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, long time Jackson Browne side man, Bob Glaub, and a slew of well known Toronto veterans, all attracted to her amazing songwriting talents. She followed up the release with national tours alongside Remy Shand, Holly McNarland and Joe Cocker, and a video for her hypnotizing single, Miracle.

Dayna has spent the last few months putting every aspect of her newest recording project "Folkyo" together. Folkyo is an uplifting and powerful collection of 12 folk-pop-rock songs, impeccably written and exquisitely produced by Dayna herself. Recording with the likes of Ian Browne (Matthew Good Band), Emm Gryner, Siegfried Meier and countless other Canadian music vets, she released Folkyo with a totally revamped interactive website and micro marketing campaign on August 22 2006. Folkyo is the first release on Dayna’s newly minted, self-owned and nationally distributed label, LeParc Records. Based on her track record, her breathtaking live show and the strength of her music, Dayna is poised to become a household name among Canada’s elite singer songwriters, such as Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell. Please visit www.folkyo.com for information on Dayna's latest release.
