Charlie Brown and his friends, based on the cartoon characters by Charles M. Schultz in comic strip Peanuts, come to life with their innocent yet poignant observations of the universe, friendship and love. Charlie Brown questions if he really is a “good man” and is joined by Linus, Lucy and Schroeder in the search for “happiness”. Sally spouts her “new philosophy” while Snoopy reminds us that dogs have imaginations too. Through the trauma of battling a “kite eating tree” and the team work in writing “a book report”, Charlie Brown learns through “little known facts” that he is, indeed, a “good man”.
Directed by Chalene Scott, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown will be on stage at the North Peace Cultural Centre Dec 29, 30 and a special New Year's Eve perfomance on the 31st at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available from the Cultural Centre box office, by phone at (250) 785-1992 and online.

So what’s it going to be this year? Give up smoking? Drop the F-Bombs from your vocabulary? Lose the deadbeat boyfriend that all your friends loath? Or . . . is this the year you are finally going to lose those last 10lbs?!
Behold the New Year’s Resolution. That time of year that many of us hold ourselves hostage to some promise of giving up, letting go of or eliminating something from our lives that we believe is not serving our best interests. So if our intentions are entirely noble & we really do want to succeed with our resolutions, why do so many of us fail at them & end up indulging even more, in the very things we want to overcome? Why is it that year after year on January 1st, we find ourselves reminiscing over the past year with friends & family, ending the evening by going around the room declaring what our resolution is for the coming year? Why? Well it is fun & it’s something of a tradition with a lot of people, but sometimes we engage in the “sharing” of what our resolution is without really considering the “doing” part of it! Or maybe it is just in our nature to try to do better, be better, work harder at something that we believe we have fallen a little short on in the previous year? Wanting to improve yourself isn’t a bad thing . . . I believe it is a good thing, a really good thing. However, I believe it is only a good thing if we allow ourselves to be “human” when we set out to do so. What I mean by that is this, there will be bumps in the road & days when you won’t follow through & you know what . . . that’s okay! If you are truly working at it & sticking to a plan, give yourself credit for THAT! Forget the guilt . . . guilt will only bring you down mentally & keep you from reaching your goals.
I also believe you can greatly increase your chances for success when you surround yourself with support. Hiring a Health Coach or Personal Trainer makes you accountable to someone else & may be just the motivation you need to stick to it when things are getting a little tough. So go ahead & engage in the tradition of the New Years Resolution . . . but this year, set yourself up for success! Cheers.

This New Year's Eve in Fort St. John, there is something brewing at Egan's Pub. In the spirit of supporting local music - A member of the local hip-hop group "Second Hand Smoke Productions", Prod Deuce, has decided to host the biggest hip-hop New Years party in Fort St. John... okay, it's the only hip-hop in Fort St. John!
New Years at Egan's will consist of live performances by Prod Deuce of Second Hand Smoke Productions, as well as "Spit 36", an original local Fort St. John resident, who moved away south, when he was still in junior-high.
After years of making music since leaving his hometown of Fort St John, Brandon, (aka Spit 36), always thought about the place he grew up and felt it would be an important part of his career to come back to his home town and play for the people who he grew up with and in the elements that created him. In the dawn of his new album titled "build me a life " he hooked up with local rapper Prod Deuce and decided to play a double feature show of home town boys on New Years. Spit 36 just got off a Canadian tour with Australia's number one hip hop group Bliss N Eso. He is about to head out on his first ever solo tour and is truly coming home for the holidays.
