Northern Groove Feb 2012

February.....the month of hearts and cupids and roses and chocolates and love and romance and other mushy stuff. And, this month the mag features the perfect way to score points with a loved one, secret crush, romantic entanglement, significant other, etc with a Valentines Day Sing-a-Gram. Details? Yep...shared by a couple local chanteuses...Emily Goodman and Naomi Shore. This month's cover features local singin' and strummin' type guys, Joseph Te Bulte and Adam Winn who are playing the Breakfast Room at the Pomeroy Hotel Feb 9 (get your tix on this here very website). Barb Daley informs us about Inspiration 6 bringing "Seasons" to Fort St. John (it's an art show, they are not responsible for weather patterns), Sue Popesku updates us on Stage North's Fashion and Form in Film contest, Oscar Night fun at On the Rocks and the upcoming production "The Good Game". Need more entertainment value? It doesn't get any better than Matt Andersen coming to the North Peace Cultural Centre. Clarice Eckford talks Black History Month and what the Pan African Caribbean Association (PACA) has planned, we re-iced-cap this year's High On Ice with some pix, Randelle Lusk reflects on a conversation she had with a man on a bus in Vancouver, Amy Te Bulte lets us know about the upcoming Sweet Hearts Gala, and Northern Health continues their feature on progress at the new Fort St. John Hospital and Residential Care Centre.

But wait, there's more. Tony Warriner encourages us to step outside our normal social circle, Dawn Service presents a writing workshop, Ashlee Ecklund and her pooch share the fun of kicksledding with us, and musician's exchange guinea pig Jacob Verberg sits in the editorial chair.

Buck3Eighty Live at JD's

It's time for another great show at JD's this weekend. It's a mash up of some of the best to grace the JD's stage...

Gidd - great guy, fantastic wingman, picks and slides his guitar strings to get a sound that will get you on the edge of your seat.

Bettyanne - the other lovely half of the Hampton duo, plays a mean accordian, adds definite flair to the stage

Dave - funny man, hits the cajon, keeps everyone in the same rhythm

Huck - great voice, adorable face, plays some kickass tunes, also has killer 'chops.

Come out and experience the jammin'est band in the house. They will make you laugh, cry, and mostly just want to join in!

Hennessey and Huck Do JD's this Weekend

This weekend there's a double treat coming your way at JD Fitzgerald's! Two nights - two great musicians! On Friday, December 16th Ryan Hennessey is live and thrivin' and on Saturday, December 17th Joel "Huck" Maddigan brings friends for a jammin' session.

Ryan is the music man of FSJ what with him being an amazing musician as well as top dog music scene supporter. He rocks out with the best of them and does a great live set!

Joel is the resident cool guy at JD's and his smooth vocals are perfect for the blues and roots. You may even get the odd drinking song! See what musical genius comes from the Huck & Friends collaborations.

Two nights of great local music talent at JD's - Friday night with Ryan Hennessey and Saturday night with Huck! Shows start at 8pm.

Spotlight 2011 Presents: Huck

Joel Maddigan is an easy-going cool dude. His voice is rich and he belts out some soulful roots and blues along with the odd drinking song. His smile is not the only thing that will charm you.

Joel will join Gidd Hampton and Dave Tolley in the Peace Gallery North to serenade you with some blues as you see the exibits and artwork.

Spotlight 2011

Spotlight 2011...October 8th...Mark it on your calendar, gussy up (or not), gather your friends and come out for an evening of full on entertainment! The evening starts at 7:00pm. Mainstage event at 8:15pm.

Tuesday Night Performance Series: Joel Maddigan

JD Fitzgerald's is starting the fun during the week! On September 13th, the Tuesday Night Performance Series kicks off with a live show by Joel Maddigan.

Joel has lived all over BC, from the Interior to the Lower Mainland, but he's originally from the Peace River area. He's carpenter by trade and his easy-going nature makes him a friend to all.

Joel’s voice is deep, soulful, and soothing and he can also belt out notes with the best of them. He performs covers from the roots and blues section but he also knows some country tunes and the odd drinking song. His charming smile and musical stylings are sure to warm the hearts of those listening.
