Nine Mile, 2 Nites Only in FSJ. February 24th and 25th!!
Nine Mile will be gracing the stage at JD Fitzgerald's for not just one night but two. Two IS better than one.
Nine Mile has evolved consistently for the past eight years, from acclaimed duo to 7-piece band. The root of all of its formations is Nine Mile frontman, and songwriter D’Ari Pouyat – the glue holding Nine Mile to task. In 2004, the Nine Mile Duo comprised of D’Ari and long-time collaborator, percussionist/drummer Dave Tolley began to tour internationally, honing their sound and releasing two albums, “Close to Touch” and “The Almanac EP.” In 2007, after one of many international tours, the duo took a break. While still making Nine Mile cameos, Dave became the fulltime drummer for Xavier Rudd -longstanding friend to both band mates. Meanwhile, D’Ari stopped to re-group, moved from downtown Toronto to a secluded farm house in Prince Edward County and wrote the next album.
Nine Mile has toured extensively overseas and has released records in Japan, Australia, New Zelaand, Canada and the USA. They have shared the stage with the likes of The Black Keys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gomez, Xavier Rudd, G. Love and Special Sauce, Cowboy Junkies, Blackalicious, Sarah Harmer, Joel Plaskett, Israel Vibration, Donovan Frankenreiter and Pete Murray to name just a few.
Look for "Country Porno Electric Fireplace" in stores, online and at shows!
Show Starts at 8:30 (ish)
Update: This show is cancelled this week but check out the photos anyway!
Andrew Bourcet is live and on the JD Fitz stage this week as one of the great local musicians featured in their Tuesday Night Performance Series.
Andrew's last show was a great mix of blues and funky acoustic sounds. He has extensive musical knowledge and tastes which makes for a very interesting set.
He is a local DJ and hard-working musician and doesn't disappoint when he gets behind a guitar and mic stand. The music is basically going to be great so it's definitely worth leaving your cocoon and having a great night out.
See Andrew live at JD Fitzgerald’s on Tuesday, January 17th at 8pm. And check out some of the photos from his last great show!
It's time for another great show at JD's this weekend. It's a mash up of some of the best to grace the JD's stage...
Gidd - great guy, fantastic wingman, picks and slides his guitar strings to get a sound that will get you on the edge of your seat.
Bettyanne - the other lovely half of the Hampton duo, plays a mean accordian, adds definite flair to the stage
Dave - funny man, hits the cajon, keeps everyone in the same rhythm
Huck - great voice, adorable face, plays some kickass tunes, also has killer 'chops.
Come out and experience the jammin'est band in the house. They will make you laugh, cry, and mostly just want to join in!
Buck3Eighty at JD Fitzgerald's, Saturday, January 14th at 8pm.
JD's has just been rockin' it's way into January and now it's time for another Tuesday Night Performance Series. It's Tuesday Night with Nick and Mike!
Nick Baccante and Mike Odowichuk are combining their musical talents into a duo show. They serenaded the crowd on the bus at the last Music That Moves You and now it's time to move it inside and get the crowd groovin' to some great tunes. It's the perfect place to be on a Tuesday night and get your music fix early on! You can bet Nick and Mike will be having a strummin' good time.
See Nick and Mike on Tuesday Night at JD Fitzgerald's. It starts at 8pm so grab a beer and listen to some great local music!
It's the first performance of 2012 and Henry See is at JD Fitzgerald's to make sure that the Tuesday Night Performance Series is alive and kickin'!
Henry is a familiar face to folks around town. He is the curator of cool things at Retro Relics / The Rabbit Hole, plays in bands with other distinguished fellows with grey beards, and most recently rang in the New Year with folky songstresses, Twin Peaks. He's an all-around cool guy and with musical talent and knowledge that easily puts me to shame.
Come to JD's tonight at 8 for a great live music show by Henry See that will definitely start your musical new year off right.
You'd better hide your sons & daughters Fort St. John, because Miss Quincy's coming back to town with her brand new all-girl band The Showdown!
Miss Quincy doesn't fit the classic girl singer/songwriter mold and this isn't your average all-girl band. Instead of singing you pretty pages out of their diaries, they'll be getting down with dirty electric roots & blues at the Hudson's Hope Community Hall on New Year's Eve (9pm) and at JD Fitzgerald's on Fri, January 6th and Sat, January 7th (8pm).
Born & raised in the Peace Country, most of you probably know enough about Miss Quincy to blackmail her. What you might not know is that since the last time you've seen the her she has embarked on her second independently booked UK/European tour, toured across Canada with the aforementioned all-girl band, and opened for the likes of Fred Eaglesmith. Miss Q's debut album, Your Mama Don't Like Me (2010), was awardedFolk/Traditional Recording of the Year at the 2011 BC Interior Music Awards and has received accolades from BBC Radio (UK), Q Magazine (UK), and reached top 5 in the earshot! Folk/Roots/Blues charts in Exclaim! magazine (CAN). In 2012 Miss Quincy & The Showdown will once again be touring hard across Canada, the UK, and Europe to promote her new album Like The Devil Does. The album will be released in late spring 2012 and is being produced by Canadian roots & blues legend Tim Williams. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for a big album release bash happening in the Peace Region this summer!
You can check out photos and video clips from the new album's recording session on Jodie Ponto's photoblog: http://jodieponto.com/photoblog/category/music/recording-music/miss-quincy-like-the-devil-does-recording/

Recap: Miss Quincy & The Showdown live at the Hudson's Hope Community Hall on Dec 31 (9pm) and at JD Fitzgerald's on Jan 6 and Jan 7(8pm).
It's that time of month.
Time for The Ramblers to play a great show at JD Fitzgerald's!
On Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 23, the ramblin' men themselves will be live at the Fitz. The show will start at 8pm and lead into the Christmas weekend. It's always a great night out at JD's and to take in a fun show like The Ramblers? Well, it's like an early Christmas present.
See Nick, Glen, Todd, and Ben put on a country/bluesy/pub rockin' show that will get you tapping your feet and perhaps singing along.
Also, check out some photos from their last show and tell me you don't want to get in on the Rambler music experience.
This weekend there's a double treat coming your way at JD Fitzgerald's! Two nights - two great musicians! On Friday, December 16th Ryan Hennessey is live and thrivin' and on Saturday, December 17th Joel "Huck" Maddigan brings friends for a jammin' session.
Ryan is the music man of FSJ what with him being an amazing musician as well as top dog music scene supporter. He rocks out with the best of them and does a great live set!
Joel is the resident cool guy at JD's and his smooth vocals are perfect for the blues and roots. You may even get the odd drinking song! See what musical genius comes from the Huck & Friends collaborations.
Two nights of great local music talent at JD's - Friday night with Ryan Hennessey and Saturday night with Huck! Shows start at 8pm.
Good times are happenin' at JD's this week! Not only are they a great place to hang out, eat some delicious food, and raise a glass with buddies - they've upped the ante by adding AWESOME live music to the mix.
On Thursday, December 15th, the one and only Dayna Manning will be live in the house. Juno-nominated, continental-traveller, and local music treasure, Dayna's song-writing and musical skills are unbelievable. Her songs are unique and personal takes on pieces of life and her voice is passion-filled and unmistakable. Her website - heartist.ca - has even more about her and her creative talents.
Don't miss out on a great night out at JD's on Thursday! The show starts at 8pm and Dayna Manning will deliver a live music show - no, a music experience - that you don't want to miss.
Oh. And Dave Tolley will be there too. Banging away.
JD Fitzgerald's is stoked to have local jack-of-all-music, Andrew Bourcet live and onstage for their next Tuesday Night Performance. On Tuesday, December 13th, at 8:30pm the music kicks off and Andrew will wow the crowd all evening.
Andrew is a fantastic example of local musicians who are as hard-working as they are passionate about their music. His album Thinktanked showcases a style he calls “Neuro-folk“, which stems from a drum and bass-heavy experimental music style called “Neuro funk”. It has a little bit of everything from funk and techno to house and jazz. He also plays a great acoustic set.
You couldn't ask for a better evening with great atmosphere at JD's and great live music by Andrew Bourcet. December 13th at 8:30pm is going to be a fantastic show, so treat yourself to a well-deserved night out!
