Attack of La Nina Film Debut

“Attack of La Niña”, the latest full-length feature from MSP Films, debuted before two sold out crowds in Boulder on Saturday, September 17th.

And will be premiering before a rowdy crowd at On The Rocks on Friday, November 4th starting at 7:30 pm.  There will be a 8 dollar cover charge for this event - a small price to pay for an awesome video and a great DJ afterwards!

“This past year, we saw some of the deepest snowfall totals in North America, due to the La Niña winter. We were stoked to post up and film with our crews all over British Columbia and the US,” stated MSP founder Murray Wais. “Coming up to Boulder for the premiere is really special for us, we love the theater, the energy in the crowd, and the community up here. It’s always a really great place for us to debut the movie.”

Completing The Community Arts Circle

Shar Coultry is the driving force and dynamic personality behind the Gallery. She connects with local artists and artisans all year round. She helps them promote and sell their art all the while, encouraging the artistic community of Fort St. John.

Shar notes how amazing it is to have such a central placed to get connected to the community. When she first moved here, the bus stopped outside the Cultural Center building, she curiosly walked in and almost immediatly started volunteering.

Growing up, Shar was involved in the arts but found her true talent lay in the sales and connections area of the art world. She puts it this way: "It's vital to make the connections with the local artists because the circle can't be broken - the Gallery doesn't exsist without the community and the community is brought together and supported by the Gallery."

Sometimes is a little intimidating to hear the word "gallery" but if you've ever been to Peace Gallery North, there couldn't be a cooler and more friendly place to hang out. And from those who have left and come back, we can fully appreciate what an awesome part of the community the Gallery and Cultural Center are. It's hard to find such a wealth of talent and fun all in one place anywhere else!

Shar says "a city can't thrive without the arts", so I, for one, am defintely glad that Fort St. John has Shar and the Peace Gallery North.

Stop by and check out the amazing art and handiwork at the Gallery and don't forget that on November 13th the Magical Christmas Market opens for all of your local art and Christmas gift desires!

Sasha Lewis is the folk/roots treasure of BC and she's coming back to Jackfish Dundee's on Thursday, October 27th. But this time she's bringing more friends - The Wild Oaks are Jesse Clarke and Jacob Verburg from Salmon Arm and people can't stop raving about them!

Sasha is from Dunster, BC and her musical background is "inspiring" folk-rock. She has been nominated for the BC Interior Music Awards and has a definite flair for heartfelt songwriting.

Jesse and Jacob started playing together and their name dropped out of the sky (literally, an acorn fell on Jesse's head). They describe their music as progressive indie folk and they write some great music that they get really excited about.

So instead of having to hear them through your computer speakers, head down to Jackfish Dundee's on the 27th at 8pm for Sasha Lewis and the Wild Oaks - a rootsy, folky, fabulous time. You don't want to miss this show (not only is it great music, you will earn serious indie cred)!
