The Populars @ Egan's Pub March 22

The Populars are back at it in Fort St. John at Egans Pub. If you didn't make it out to see these guys when they were up before, you definatly shouldn't miss out the second time around because these guys put on a great show! Here's a little info on them I stole from their website www.thepopulars.com

THE POPULARS carry the torch of great power-trios passed on by THE POLICE, NOMEANSNO, HUSKER DU, THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE, ETC...

Now, 3 years since parting ways with seminal roots-rocker MIKE PLUME, THE POPULARS mark the first chapter of a story too strange to believe with the release of the vindicator LP,

From living in Nashville-touringNorth America andEurope constantly, to having only a van and the conviction to continue as career musicians, THE POPULARS moved toPrescott,ON. A quiet small town on the shore of theSt. Lawrence River. Back to their homeland with a back yard view of the dream they had to leave behind. In an area historically known forCanada's great battles for independence, the band prepared to make their stand-as their own nation under their own flag.

Produced by Thomas Ryder Payne, the vindicator LP is the record THE POPS have dreamed of making since childhood. The album blends the many influences of the band in a way that one could expect from only THE POPULARS. A rock album like no other- the vindicator LP, sounds as sci-fi as it does lo-fi. Drenched in furious guitar, spine-tingling feedback, synth pads and digital noise, the album is inexplicably riddled with hooks and melody-and showcases a young band full of veterans. Three career musicians defining and refining their talents and sound.

The Trews Tickets on Sale Now!

The Trews are to be playing at Egans Pub on the 17th of this month and what a great show its going to be! Imagine being inches away from one of the top bands in Canada. Either way this is gonna be a sold out show with a great band so I just wanted to let you know to get your tickets early because this is going to sell out fast! I've got my tickets already (... no, they are not for sale) and of the very limited amount left, as of today they are already half sold. Anyways, more info is coming soon - hope to see you at the show!

And just incase your wondering, who are the Trews, here is a little discription of them I stole off the web:

The Trews are a Canadian rock group from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, consisting of vocalist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, and drummer Sean Dalton.

The band are currently based in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

They started off with the name One I'd Trouser, before changing their name to Trouser and eventually The Trews. They released an EP as Trouser, and a second EP under the name "The Trews" before the release of their first full-length CD House of Ill Fame in 2003. House of Ill Fame contained the hit singles "Every Inambition", "Not Ready to Go", "Tired of Waiting" "Fleeting Trust" and "Confessions". "Not Ready To Go" hit number one on Canadian rock radio and was the most played song of 2004 in that format.

The band has recently completed work on a follow-up to House of Ill Fame with producer Jack Douglas. The new album, Den of Thieves, was released on August 16th, 2005. The first single, "So She's Leaving", was released to radio June 28th, 2005.

Since the release of their debut album, House Of Ill Fame, The Trews have played well over 400 shows and have shared the stage with Big Sugar, Default, Evanescence, Finger Eleven, Nickelback, Sam Roberts, The Offspring, Three Days Grace and most recently, Robert Plant and the Rolling Stones. They have quickly gained the reputation as one of the best live bands in Canada.

Brian Byrne at Egans Pub

brian_byrne.jpg Brian Byrne is returning once again to Egans Resturaunt Pub in Fort St. John.  If you missed his performance this summer, don't miss this week!

The following has been taken from his webpage www.brianbyrnemusic.com -

You can take the boy out of Newfoundland, but you can't take Newfoundland out of the boy."Right now I'm not living there, but it's always so close to my heart. The people, the music, the culture. I owe a great deal of who I am to that place."

Brian Byrne comes from Steadybrook, Newfoundland... population 500. Regardless of its small size, his musical influences were large. He formed his first band when he was 12 years old and found himself listening to the likes of U2, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons and The Cure. "I had a pretty wide listening scope when I was growing up, but I either loved it or hated it. There was no down-the-middle for me."
