Home Routes: Marianne Girard
Born to a French/Irish Catholic family of 12, Marianne left the southwestern Ontario tobacco belt of her childhood for a life of journeying and songwriting: one she has steadfastly shared with her audience for over three decades.
Scott Merrifield of the Sudbury House Concert Series, says about Marianne: "I first booked Marianne at Northern Lights Festival Borealis because she stood out from the hundreds of talented singer/songwriters on the circuit. Marianne gave a wonderful performance to a full house on Saturday night. Her songs really struck an emotional chord with the audience, probing a diverse spectrum of the human condition and reflecting a maturity of life experience that gives them depth and authenticity. Marianne is the real deal. I hope a lot more people are given the opportunity to discover (or rediscover) her at the top of her game. Bravo!”
Marianne will be in Fort St John as part of the Home Routes House Concerts series on Sunday evening, November 27. She is also playing in Hudson's Hope, Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie and Chetwynd as part of her tour.
There is no better way to discover a new artist than through house concerts. In an intimate group of twenty to thirty people, you are up close, hearing them in ways that are unmatched when you see them in larger venues. There's plenty of time to meet and talk with the musicians before and after the show. House concerts are special events. Don't miss out!
Tickets are $20 and are on sale at Retro Relics.

The Anatomy of Frank Live in the Gallery
"Part experimental, part banjo-art-pop-rock, the band has a wide-ranging sound --- all of which they do well." - Mac Bartine, Knoxville Jukebox
A catchy little indie band from Charlottesville, Virginia, The Anatomy of Frank is composed of Kyle, Chris, Jimmy, Erik, and George. Their music is usually described as "catchy". Also "unique", "eclectic", and "psychedelic electronic glory".
The Anatomy of Frank likes touring in strange places and sleeping on your floors.
The Anatomy of Frank does not claim to know/care enough about politics to argue effectively. But it reserves the right to complain about it when it is artistically relevant.
The Anatomy of Frank believes music is good for many things. Among these are dancing recklessly, sitting motionlessly, percolating, sobbing privately, weeping publicly, destroying things, getting into relationships, getting out of relationships, nurturing a good mood, enunciating a bad mood, entertaining a fantasy that you are more badass than your social situation allows you to be, accepting that you are average in many ways, believing that you are extraordinary in others, laughing, screaming, and jumping.
Catch Kyle Woolard of The Anatomy of Frank on the tour stop at the Dawson Creek Art Gallery on September 26th at 7 pm. For more info call the Dawson Art Gallery at 250-782-2601 or leave us a comment below!
