Since 1999, communities across Canada have annually recognized the importance of family literacy on January 27th.  This year, Fort St. John will be celebrating Family Literacy Day with a week's worth of exciting activities.  All events are free of charge!

Letter Writing Club

Here's an opportunity for a family to write a letter or two with other families who are also writing letters. Stationary and creative ideas will be provided at no cost. Connect with those you love by writing a letter or creating a postcard, mail art or anything else that's mailable.

Date: Thursday, January 26th
Time: 4:00pm to 8:00pm
Location: North Peace Cultural Centre Multipurpose Room (10015 100 Avenue)
Registration: Not required - everyone is welcome to drop in at any time during the event.

Clarice Eckford
Originally from Edmonton, Clarice moved to Fort St. John in April 2010 to find out what aurora borealis actually looks like.  Clarice has a  BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta, so you may see her staring into random rooms, trying to figure out how to transform them into theatre spaces.  She's also a published poet and longs to be a playwright.  Clarice is currently the Literacy Outreach Coordinator for the North Peace Literacy Alliance and has worked with the Welcoming & Inclusive Communities & Workplaces Program.
