Jason will also be happy to answer your questions.  Jason Butler is well known on the local scene for his blues guitar playing.  He first picked up a guitar at 6 years old and has been wailing ever since.  Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from a master!

Songwriters Gala at the Pomeroy Hotel

Saturday May 9th will see the Pomeroy Hotel playing host to the grand finale of MayFest 2009 – the Songwriters Gala.

The Songwriters Gala will be an intimate and interactive night of music featuring 4 completely unique songwriters – Toronto's D'Ari Pouyat, and Fort St. John's Dayna Manning, Randy Gee, and Ryan Hennessey. This is a fantastic opportunity to see some very talented musicians all in one place. And this is a talented bunch indeed – I'm talking recording with some of Canada's best musicians, founding record labels and recording studios, gold records, and Juno nominations here!

The show itself will take the form of a songwriters circle. Never heard of a songwriters circle? Picture this: some of Canada and Fort St. John's best songwriters all on one stage in an intimate, stripped-down setting – playing songs, cracking jokes, and sharing stories (about how their songs were written, their experiences as musicians, and whatever other tidbits they care to share). It's like having a bunch of seasoned musicians hanging out and playing in your own living room! If you're an aspiring songwriter, love music of any sort, or are just looking for a fabulous night out, you don't want to miss this event!

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door.  Tickets are available at the Cultural Centre Box Office, Whole Wheat & Honey, and Systems By Trail.

Make sure to visit the About the Bands page and find out more about D'Ari, Dayna, Randy, and Ryan.

Time: 5:30pm – cocktails / 6:30pm – dinner / 7:30pm – show

Location: Pomeroy Hotel's Marie Ballroom. 9304 Alaska Rd

Tickets: $40 / advance or $50 / door.

Dinner includes roast baron of beef with au jus, roasted baby potatoes, mixed vegetables, assorted salads, and assorted deserts.  Cash bar available.
