Energetic. Raw. Feisty.
These three words tell you everything you need to know about Australian roots artist Toby on stage.
Do I really need to tell you anything about Toby on stage though? All you residents of Fort St. John should be more than familiar with Toby because, if I can count correctly, this will be her 5th time visiting the city.
For those of you who have somehow managed to miss this Australian phenom, Toby and her band put on a passionate, joyous, and quite frankly killer live show. Toby is a charismatic singer, songwriter, and guitarist who magically weaves together roots, rock and reggae.
She has performed all across the globe with five Canadian tours up her sleeve. She also tours throughout Europe, America, and Australia playing major festivals, and performing her own headline shows. She has performed at Milwaukee 's Summerfest alongside Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and Blondie, at Canada 's Big Time Out Festival with Michael Franti and Xavier Rudd, and Australian festivals including WA Blues and Roots, Bridgetown Blues (five consecutive years), and Fairbridge Festival. Toby has also performed on stage with artists such as The Violent Femmes, Tex Perkins and Ash Grunwald.
2010 is set to be a massive year for Toby. Starting the year with a bang, Toby will be supporting the John Butler Trio in Toronto, this is followed by her sixth full band tour of West Canada. Toby will be recording her fourth studio album in San Fran, USA with Carey Williams acting as producer (Carey has produced for Taj Mahal and manages the incredible Etta James).
With that jam-packed bio laid down, Toby will be performing in Fort St. John at Jackfish Dundee's on Thursday, February 25. This is a free show and will get rolling as usual around 8:30-9pm. If you have seen Toby perform and can help spread the news about the show - tell your friends to come out and enjoy a great night of music!
