A wise man once told me that there are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles.
I have always heeded this basic nutrition principle, and it is this wisdom that will guide me through the Chocolate Festival at the North Peace Cultural Centre this Saturday, February 6.
Now in its 10th year of deliciousness, the Chocolate Festival is an annual fundraiser hosted by Peace Gallery North & the North Peace Peace Cultural Centre - this year all proceeds will go towards the Kids Free Summer Art Camp. It's always a fun and mouthwatering event complete with door prizes, silent auctions, tastings, and a live auction to cap off the night.
No Chocolate Festival is complete without tables chock full of chocolate, and with that in mind the festival welcomes all bakers to enter! If you'd like to enter, your entry must be prepared with butter and you must make a double batch (one for the tasting and one for the auction). There are 7 categories to choose from, so get creative: Cakes, Cookies, Candy, Squares, Miscellaneous, Children, and Commercial. Your creation must be at the Cultural Centre by 10am on the day of the festival (Sat, Feb 6).
As for the chocolaty details, tickets are $10/person and children are free when accompanied by an adult. The tasting will begin at 6pm and the live auction is set to start at 7pm (where you can bid on your favorite treats from the tasting). For more information, or to register, contact Shar at Peace Gallery North: 250-787-0993.
