Last night, January 25, Toronto's Nine Mile kicked off their duo tour (that will eventually see them performing in Hawaii, the lucky dogs!) with another fantastic show at Whole Wheat n' Honey Cafe.
The packed cafe was treated to some marvelously unusual stories and sounds - from Christopher Baumeister, the surprisingly young and super talented opener, to D'Ari's limitless stories of Cambodian shit pigs and how he managed to evade a false trafficking charge, to Dave's audience-created junkyard drumkit, it was one of those memorable "you had to be there" shows.

Christopher Baumeister, one of the youngest performers to ever take to the Whole Wheat n' Honey stage. This young man has only been playing the piano for 4 months and has a voice that croons with more musicality than some people twice his age. He has talent and potential coming right out from under that ballcap and it would be a shame if he didn't keep playing music (if you read this Chris, that's an elbow nudge in your side to keep playing)!

Dave Tolley behind his makeshift junkyard drumkit. The night before the show we put out a call for people to help Dave construct a different sort of drumkit for the evening ... let me tell you, only Dave Tolley could make a traffic cone, watering can, guitar, saw blade, bong, and box sound like percussive genius!

The Nine Mile Duo Tour becomes a Trio Tour with Dave, D'Ari, and the Junkyard Drumkit.

This was our first time listening to 9 Mile's performance and we really enjoyed them. They were an inspiration to Christopher for sure. Thank you again for asking him to perform for you all. Hoping to see more great performers in future now that we know what to expect. Christopher looks forward to another opportunity as he did on Monday.
