The Olympic Torch will be in Fort St. John from 5:48pm to 6:30pm on Sunday, January 31. The Community Celebration will start at 5pm and run until 7pm. Below is a full list of what you can expect that day. Show your support by turning out along the route or in Centennial Park and don’t forget to wear Red to show your support for Canada’s Athletes!
The theme “Fire & Ice” was chosen in order to celebrate the flame of the Olympic Torch, the momentum and excitement of the annual High On Ice festival and to highlight the hardiness of the people in the North Peace region – even in the middle of winter!
The celebration will feature some of Fort St John & area’s best performers including aboriginal singer Garry Oker and Juno nominated singer and song writer Dayna Manning. In keeping with the Fire & Ice theme, you can enjoy a cup of free hot chocolate nestled next to a community sized bonfire while you watch many outstanding local performers. The celebration will start at 5:00pm.
