Nine Mile belongs to the crew of musicians who have performed in Fort St. John so many times that they should be honourary citizens of the city. In fact, the band's percussionist, Dave Tolley, has taken to living and working in Fort St. John in his spare time. He's currently in town again for a couple weeks, and to cap off his latest stint, his partner in Nine Mile crime (D'Ari) will be joining him for two duo shows.
Sunday, January 24, Nine Mile will be performing at Egan's Recovery Night. Once music events begin happening every weekend at Egan's (February hopefully - more info coming soon!), the pub will begin hosting Sunday recovery days. Recovery days will be mellow days of lighter drinks (think Caesers and Gatorade ... not necessarily mixed), Nintendo Wii, and the occassional show. We'll all need a night of recovery after a weekend of ULTRAVIOLENCE, so we've decided to take the Recovery Night idea for a test spin with the less violent Nine Mile (although you might not be able to tell from the accompanying photo).
Monday, January 25, Nine Mile will be performing an intimate show at Whole Wheat n' Honey Cafe. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or online by using the link below.
For the few of you who have managed to not hear of Nine Mile in the 4 years they have been coming to our city, the band has toured extensively overseas and has released records in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. They have shared the stage with the likes of The Black Keys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gomez, Xavier Rudd, G. Love and Special Sauce, Cowboy Junkies, Blackalicious, Sarah Harmer, Joel Plaskett, Israel Vibration, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Peter Murray to name just a few. They released their latest album, Country Porno Electric Fireplace, back in September. Backed by gritty country, anthemic rock, with inflections of soul and a reggae sensibility - it was created by the sum of it’s parts, featuring cameo’s by Australian phenom Xavier Rudd, Canadian soul crooner Matt York, and pedal steele guru Burke Carrole (Luther Wright, Jason Collett, Sarah Harmer).
